With sponsorship from the good folks at Soldier McGee Tavern, this team was founded in the Spring of 2008 by Joseph Damanti . The Heartland team built off of its inaugural season with some key additions and finished with a very respectable 6-3-1 record in the Fall 2008 regular season. The entered the Fall 2008 playoffs as the #5 seed but were knocked out by the East End Terriers in an exciting 8-7 Overtime game.
What started with one brewpub in Union Square in 1995 has turned into six different restaurants throughout Manhattan. Heartland's beers taste different than beers from Germany and Britain because they are made from indigenous ingredients like Wisconsin malt, hops from Washington and Oregon, and American yeast. All beers are served at their freshest within one to two weeks of brewing. It's what the folks at Heartland call "Real Beer". Their seventh location will be opening at 41st Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan in March of 2010. http://www.heartlandbrewery.com
